Long Ago Stories come alive in Gwich’in with theatre storytelling. With Vuntut Gwitchin Heritage, we’re continuing our theatre storytelling initiative, adapting yeenoo dai’ googwandak – Long Ago Stories. We’ll be back in Old Crow this fall developing this fall developing Tl’oo Thał (Grass Pants) a comical tale about first contact between a Gwich’in man and a group of white traders, and Vah Srigwehlik, from Sarah Abel’s story about the resourceful lone survivor of a community battling hunger.

Gwich’in Theatre Workshop - Presented by VGG Heritage & Gwaandak Theatre
Thursday Oct. 12th, 2017 - 1-3 pm
Friday Oct. 13th, 2017 - 10-4 pm with lunch at 12 noon

Using Gwich’in language and performance to give life to the traditional Gwich’in art of storytelling, professional theatre artists will work with the community to create Gwich’in theatre productions and radio plays. If you ever wanted to hear stories, tell stories, get up on stage or work behind the scenes, this workshop is for you.

Long Ago Stories. Your stories. Remember those stories you’ve probably heard before. Share new ones. Celebrate language and culture. With Vuntut Gwitchin storytellers and Gwaandak Theatre. At The Hall in Old Crow, Yukon, 7 pm. Includes snacks and door prizes! Presented by Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation & Gwaandak Theatre.
