Yukon Playwrights Conference 2018
April 2018
The Yukon Playwrights Conference was co-hosted by the Playwrights Guild of Canada and Gwaandak Theatre.
The Power of the Playwright: A panel of guest and local playwrights (Leonard Linklater, Kevin Loring, and Donna-Michelle St. Bernard) discussed the power that a playwright has to transform the world through theatre creation. Moderated by PGC regional representative, Kevin Kennedy.
From Page to Stage: Local and established playwright, Brian Fidler, Gwaandak Theatre’s Artistic Director, Patti Flather, and Nakai Theatre’s Artistic Director, Jacob Zimmer shared their perspectives on promoting plays and creating professional relationships in theatre. PGC then facilitated a workshop in which attendees could build their own toolbox of fresh and creative marketing ideas. Participants then collaborated in small groups to design a visual Marketing Plan for each artist’s current or upcoming project.
Creators and Community Network: Conference participants and the Yukon Community gathered at the Dirty Nothern on Main Street after the Spring Thaw Readings.
Dinner catered by Bridges Cafe was provided to registered conference participants. Financially supported by the Access Copyright Foundation.
