The Unplugging

By Yvette Nolan

Old Fire Hall - June 14th

The Unplugging is inspired by an Athabascan legend. Elena and Bernadette, two middle-aged women, are cast out of their community for being too old to be useful and are thrust into a desolate post-apocalyptic landscape to survive on their own, or perish. With technology dead the women must revive their knowledge of traditional survival skills if they are to live. Will their reluctant society of two, fueled by stubbornness and wit, be strong enough to survive the barren land, and the arrival of a handsome young man?

Where The Blood Mixes

By Kevin Loring

Old Fire Hall - June 26th & 28th

Irreverently funny and brutally honest, Where the Blood Mixes exposes the shadows below the surface of the author’s First Nations heritage. It tells the story of Floyd, an Aboriginal man who has lost his family and himself to the devastating consequences of the residential school system. But Floyd is a survivor, and the return home of a long-lost daughter sparks the rebirth of a family and a community. Though torn down years ago, the memories of their residential school still live deep inside the hearts of those who spent their childhoods there. For some, like Floyd, the legacy of that trauma has been passed down through families for generations.

Where The Blood Mixes was presented with Savage Society.
