Indigenous Summer Play Readings

Gwaandak Theatre is seeking qualified applicants for 1-2 Stage Manager contract positions for these Readings, directed by Leonard Linklater and Véronique Lachance.

This is a part-time, paid engagement beginning later in May. Gwaandak Theatre is sharing readings of 2 different plays, on June 11 and 13 at The Old Fire Hall, with an encore reading of 1 play on July 4.  We’re open to engaging 1 stage manager for both plays, or 1 per play.

The Stage Manager assists with casting, auditions, rehearsals, and readings, documents all rehearsal notes, reads stage directions, and is the key liaison between performers and directors. Dates and approximate time commitments are as follows:

June 11 & 13 Play Reading

Casting support (1hr)
Auditions (May 29, 530-9pm)
Rehearsals prep (1hr per play)
Table rehearsals (June 2 for Play #1, June 8 for Play #2 3-4hrs each)
Venue rehearsals (June 10 for Play #1, June 12 for Play #2, 2-4hrs each)
Play Readings (June 11 & 13, 3-4hrs each)

July 4 Play Reading

Rehearsal (2hrs)
Play Reading (July 4, 2hrs)

Applicants must have strong organizational, communication, and multi-tasking skills, confidence in team leadership, and at least some familiarity with stage managing.

We encourage applications from qualified candidates of Indigenous, visible minority and diverse backgrounds, in keeping with our company’s mandate.
