MADE IN YUKON STREET THEATRE

 Ever wanted to do street theatre? Street dance? Street performance of some kind?

 Got an idea? Got a group?

 We are looking to animate Whitehorse during the Magnetic North Theatre Festival!

We are looking for performing artists and organizations to perform at diverse outdoor locations (such as Lepage Park, Shipyards Park, Main Street, on the Wharf, around the Roundhouse and Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre) during the Magnetic North Theatre Festival!

Each performance will be free and accessible to all Whitehorse citizens and visitors with at least one performance per day during the 10-day festival (June 9 to 18).

All performance types are welcome, and while artists are expected to supply all the equipment required for their performance, “Made in Yukon” will secure access to the performance location.  An honorarium is provided, and performers are welcome to pass the hat if they wish.

To apply please submit the following:

– One page letter detailing the performance, preferred location, availability/preferred performance dates between June 9 and 18, and why you are interested in this opportunity

– Brief bios of all artists involved in the presentation

– Optional: photos, short videos (max. 5 minutes total), writing sample or audio clip of current or past productions.

Email submissions are strongly preferred, however an alternative means of submitting may be arranged if necessary.

MADE IN YUKON SHOW

 Want to present your performing art in front of theatre delegates from many different countries?

 Want to develop a relationship, create a partnership, show what you do, market a project, discuss a topic?

 We have THE opportunity for you during the Magnetic North Theatre Festival!

 We are looking for Yukon professional performing artists, groups and organizations to celebrate their work in the “Made in Yukon” Show on Monday June 13 during the Magnetic North Theatre Festival.

Each artist will have up to 5 minutes to present an idea or project in anyway they want (theatre, music, dance, photos, projections, talking, anything!).

This unique opportunity to showcase Yukon artists in a national context will take place during the Festival’s Industry Series in the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre Longhouse. Performance starts at 5pm on June 13th with a dress rehearsal immediately before.

Your proposal will be reviewed by a curating committee.  Late proposals will not be accepted.

Criteria:

– Emerging or established Yukon artists/groups/collectives engaged in a professional performance practice

– Intermedia/interdisciplinary arts are eligible provided there is a major performance aspect

– Demonstration of an ongoing commitment to the arts practice

– Short snappy impressionistic presentations will be preferred
